About Ashlee . . .

Before moving to Colorado in 2017, I owned and operated a dance studio with multiple locations for 12 years. After taking a break from teaching, I realized I could merge both of my passions and tell stories in a new way.

Whether I am shooting a ballet dancer or a family, my dance background has fine-tuned my understanding of how to pose and shape bodies to create the best and most flattering visuals. My teaching experience allows me to easily direct the subject, but my teacher-grade patience and easy-going nature makes for a fun and stress-free environment (if you've taught a class of twenty toddlers in tap shoes you can do anything!). I pride myself in being a student for life, so I am always ready and willing to try new things and welcome collaboration. A rebel at heart, I live by the belief that life is a little more fun when you color outside of the lines.

The meaning
behind the name . . .

Before she passed, my mother-in-law held my hand and whispered, “you need to do something with your photography”. After losing her, I worried my then six year old might start forgetting things about her grandma as she grew older. Thankfully, we have photographs. Lots and lots of photographs. And when you look at these photos, you can hear her laugh, you can see her love, you can feel her soul.

It took me a few more years to finally take the leap and start this venture, but I continue to carry her words and unwavering support with me. The name SOULSTORY is in tribute to her and my goal to capture others’ souls and stories forever through my lens.
